Brewmaster Spotlight: Brent Mayorca
Name: Brent Mayorca Nickname: Brental Floss Twitter / Instagram

When did you start at Digital Brew?

I started as an intern summer 2014 and was hired on December 2015.

What the heck do you do here?

If my time were put in a pie chart it would read: 90% Video editing 5% Motion graphics 5% Hanging up movie posters.

What are you listening to lately?

I’ll just list off my last five pandora stations. Alexandre Desplat, Booker T. & the MG’s, Elmer Bernstein, Chris Stapleton, John Williams.

What is your favorite movie of all time? Why?

If I really had to pick just one I would have to say Quentin Tarantino’s Inglorious Bastards. It’s an American film where only 30% is spoken in English. You just don’t see that everyday.

Favorite thing about working at Digital Brew?

I like helping clients that are passionate about bringing their vision to life. My absolute favorite thing about this job is seeing their reaction after they watch a first cut and get a real glimpse of their creation. It’s pretty priceless, even in e-mail form.

Most visited webpage?

YouTube is life.

Favorite podcast?

DGA’s The Director’s Cut.

Best thing about living in Orlando?

Orlando’s identity has been slowly changing year after year and it’s been cool to be a part of. The rise of a new MLS soccer team Orlando City, seeing the constant support from Orlando locals and the entire nation after the Pulse tragedy, being home to one of the largest universities in the nation.

Best advice you’ve ever been given?

Do or do not. There is no try. – Yoda

Most climatic movie scene of all time?

One that I really like is the compound raid in Zero Dark Thirty. The entire film is preparation for this sequence and it delivers in a highly technical and nuanced fashion.

What’s the first film you remember seeing in theaters?

The first movie I remember seeing in theaters is also one of my favorite movies of all time, Jurassic Park in 1993.

When did you know you wanted to work in video?

When we were kids, my brother and I used to skateboard everyday ’til sundown. If you watch any of our skate footage from back then you’ll only see my brother because I was always working the camera.

Favorite place for design inspiration?

Probably just sitting at my desk at home and watching countless movies. I like paying attention to line and shape motifs and trying to figure out what they are trying to express.
