Brewmaster Spotlight: Lexi Merritt
Name: Lexi Merritt
Nicknames: My MySpace name was Koala for a while, so I still kinda respond to that.
Where to find you online: I blog about business, music and style at Pretty Decent.
When did you start at Digital Brew?
What the heck do you do here?
I head Digital Brew’s digital strategy, which basically just means I manage everything that appears online. It’s mostly content marketing, SEO and advertising.
What are you listening to lately?
I’ve been listening to a lot of SZA, Jhene Aiko and Daniel Caeser. You can follow me on Apple Music @leximerritt and see all my playlists! I take great pride in them.
What is your favorite movie of all time? Why?
That depends entirely on my mood, the season and whatever is going on in my life at the moment. Classically it’s Audrey Hepburn’s Funny Face. During Christmas (which begins November 1) it’s Love Actually. In terms of movies I think everyone on the planet should watch, definitely Fruitvale Station.
Favorite thing about working at Digital Brew:
I really enjoy the work I do, which makes everything about the job more fun. I really appreciate that I get creative control over the content I produce. It’s also really fun running social for a video production agency because there’s always new, beautiful work to post.
Most visited webpage:
Gmail and Twitter, unfortunately.
How did you get into digital strategy?
I started working in content marketing during my sophomore year of college while still studying journalism. It was like, “Wait, I can get paid WELL for writing? Sign me up!”
From there, I started learning more about the strategy and business side of marketing online, which naturally led me to digital strategy. It’s a good area to be in right now.
Modern Love by the NYTimes.
Best thing about living in Orlando:
It sounds dumb but I’ve always just really loved the aesthetics of Orlando. The painted electrical boxes, the view from UCF parking garages, the sunsets in College Park…it’s all just very beautiful to me.
The only person you are destined to become is the person you decide to be. — Emerson
Since you produce all blog content, are you asking yourself these questions?
Yes. It’s all very meta.
