To celebrate all the hard work and man hours we’ve been putting in lately, we packed up the team and headed out to I-drive for a day filled with team building, go-karts, being flung 390 feet into the air from a volcano (yes, you read that correctly) and of course the Avengers. In the words of Tom Haverford, we decide it was about time to “Treat YO Self”.
We started the day at Escapology, which is a real life escape game. We played two games each different themed. The first, a Cuban missile crisis where we only had an hour to escape from Fidel Castro’s “home” with important information regarding nuclear war. We split up into two groups, and each had only 60 minutes to escape the room by solving a series of difficult and at times, frustrating set of clues.
This was my absolute favorite part of the day. This game was so realistic and had me feeling like an undercover agent, I mean come on’ who wouldn’t love that. Plus it was great opportunity to work as a team with people you might not work with on a daily basis.
From there, we grabbed some grub and fueled up for our next activity: Magical Midway! There we indulged in go-kart racing and a 390ft slings shot. Naturally, there was a competition for first place in the go-kart race and Tessa stole that title (sorry boys).
After that quick defeat, it was time for the slingshot. I’m sure you’ve seen rides like this before. They are ridiculously tall bungee jumping rides that can be seen throughout the area. Our two bravest souls, Tessa and Jarman, decided to take on the challenge and be catapulted out of a volcano 390 feet into the air. This ride is not for the faint of heart, let me tell you.
I think that my other coworkers can attest that it was more fun watching than it would’ve been for us to ride. Hands down the best part of that experience was playing back the footage of those two during the ride; belly laughs definitely ensued.
The final leg of our treat yo’ self day, was seeing the new Avengers movie in IMAX 3D! This was the perfect way to relax after solving nuclear war and watching our co-workers catapult into the air. Needless to say, this fun day was a great way to enjoy each other’s company and bond even more as a Digital Brew team!
