Using Video in Social Media
September 22, 2023
Getting users to engage with you on social media can be difficult. As a user, you’re constantly bombarded with companies and brands trying to grab your attention. So how can you make your company stand out from the rest? Well, you might have already guessed, but the answer is using video in social media.
Have you been on Instagram lately? Do you remember when that app used to be about sharing photos? Now it’s all about video. A big part of that is engagement and the algorithm that feeds us content. When you look at a photo, you only look at it for a second or two. Even if it’s a really nice one, you’re not engaging with it for very long. But if you’re scrolling through an app and you see a video, you’re spending more time on it. Even if you don’t watch the whole thing, you’ve probably watched it for longer. And because you’ve engaged with it longer, it’s being pushed to more people.
The Numbers for Using Video in Social Media
As video in social media becomes more and more popular (and profitable) here are some of the statistics we’ve found that show how powerful using video in social media can be:
– 93% of brands got a new customer because of a video on social media.
– Pinterest users (from a site, again, based on photos) are actually 2.6x more likely to purchase a product or service after viewing the company’s video.
– 87% of marketers have said video marketing helped them drive more sales.
– 92% of marketers told Hubspot that they get a good ROI on video content
What Video Can Really Do
Last week we talked about how effectively video marketing can connect with your audience. Well that’s especially true for social media. Think about all the way content creators use apps like TikTok. The videos are funny, moving, or informative. And because they’re coming from a person instead of a faceless brand, we’re immediately more connected to them. Couple that with the fact that a video can walk you through a process or show you how a product works (as opposed to a plain infographic), you’ve really got something powerful on your hands.
Where We Can Help
One of the great things we offer here at Digital Brew, beyond making awesome videos, is that we can make cutdowns. So, awesome shorter videos. So maybe your marketing video is 90 seconds but you want something a little shorter and snappy for Facebook. Well, we can create a cutdown of that video that still feels totally cohesive. So if you’re ready to start using video in social media, or even want to get more information about it, you can always reach out to us here!
