The Importance of a Clear Vision for Your Video

As a creative studio we’re here to help bring your vision to life. But that can be hard when you’re not sure what your goals are for your new video. We’ve talked in previous blogs about working with a creative studio or the process we go through when crafting the script for your video. But now, let’s take a look at the importance of having a clear vision for your video.

Create Videos with Purpose

We’ve also seen the stats on video marketing. Like how over 80% marketers say that video has directly increased sales and traffic to their website. So if you haven’t jumped aboard the video marketing train already, you’re probably strongly considering. But like any other business decision, it needs to be done with purpose. So when you have a clear vision for your video, it’ll perform better and help your business more, which is the ultimate goal, of course. And if you haven’t started using video in your marketing, sometimes an overview video is a great place to start. And a general overview video about your company is still clear and purposeful. Then, you just need to include what’s most important.

But Isn’t Everything Important?

Well, yes and no. To your company, yes. To your video, probably not. Remember, these videos are really meant to be conversation starters. They aren’t meant to completely replace customer interactions. And we’ve found that videos typically work the best for you when they’re in the 60-90 second range. And that time goes by faster than you might realize.

So, for example, when you’re making a video for a general overview for you company, it’s tempting to talk about the history of your company, plus specifically state everything that you can do, plus all the deals you can offer, plus talk about how great customer service is, plus this side industry you’re starting to get into, plus how intuitive your website is, plus plus plus… Phew. See how quickly your video can balloon when trying to put everything in it?

Focusing on a Clear Vision for Your Video

If it’s an overview video, maybe we don’t need to talk about every single service you can offer. BUT! We can focus on your biggest ones (the ones that make you the most money) and talk more about those. Maybe that new industry you’re getting into would be better for its own shorter video. But if you overwhelm your customer, they might actually tune out or miss the mention of the thing that applies most to them. That’s why it’s so important to be clear and concise with your messaging.
