Tips for Effective Script Writing
January 29, 2016
A good script is the foundation of any good video. It doesn’t matter if the purpose is to educate or simply entertain, without a good script a video just can’t engage its audience.
The good news is that anyone can write a good script. Yes, you can too! All you need is to do some research and put in the work and time. In the meantime, we have some tips for you on effective script writing.
- Identify pain points and how your company solves them. Connect with audiences by speaking to their biggest problems. Talking about the issue and how your business is most fit to solve it will resonate with people on a personal level. Send a clear message for viewers to understand how you can help and why they should trust you.
- Who? What? Why? Be sure to include speaking points on who the people behind your company are, what is it that your company do, and why you’re different from your competitors. Even if you are well known in your industry, don’t assume that all prospects already knows this information. This is your opportunity to tell people in your own words what you want them to know about your company.
- Skip the industry jargon. Don’t use terms that someone outside your field can’t understand. Write for your audience in an intelligent but simple tone. The point of making a video about your company or product is to give the audience information, not to make them confused about words they don’t know.
