Inside the Making of Digital Brew’s New Explainer Video

Quick Answer: At Digital Brew, we practice what we preach. Our new explainer video it’s a real-world example of how story, design, and animation can come together into a clear, emotional experience. In this post, we’ll walk you through the purpose, vision, and creative thinking behind our latest explainer video, from script to final render.

Every great creative agency eventually faces the same challenge: explaining what makes its own process so unique.

At Digital Brew, we’ve spent over a decade helping brands turn complexity into clarity through award-winning animation and live action storytelling. Our previous explainer videos has served us well, but as our brand, team, and creative approach evolved, we knew it was time for a refresh.

Our new explainer video captures who we are in motion. It’s a narrative built around our mission: to transform highly complex ideas into stories that educate, inspire, and connect.

“Conveying a clear message is always my top priority. With this video, I wanted to maintain a pacing that would keep viewers engaged from start to finish. I aimed to use a mix of techniques to show that there are many ways to approach the visuals while keeping the message clear and cohesive.”

“We also had the opportunity to refresh the branding, which added an extra layer of challenge. I didn’t want to abandon what worked before—I wanted to evolve it. The goal was to bring new energy with bright gradients and dynamic moments while also creating places for the eye to rest using white space and balance.”

The Purpose Behind the Project

Marketers know that an explainer video is more than a creative deliverable. It’s a business tool designed to educate audiences, clarify messaging, and boost engagement. But in our case, the goal was twofold:

  1. To showcase our creative capabilities in 2D and 3D animation.
  2. To embody the storytelling process we bring to every client project.

We wanted the video to feel like an experience, a story about how imagination meets strategy. Every frame reflects our philosophy: that design and narrative should work together to make even the most technical ideas feel human.

Turning Complex Ideas into a Simple Story

At Digital Brew, we believe simplicity is the ultimate sophistication. Whether explaining an AI model or a SaaS workflow, the power of an explainer video lies in its ability to translate complexity into clarity.

In our new piece, we distilled years of creative process into one clear question: What does it mean to brew ideas that move people?

3D-rendered rocket launching from a red platform surrounded by clouds of smoke, with the words “Strategic execution” overlayed, symbolizing Digital Brew’s creative process taking flight.

In this scene, a rocket launch symbolizes the power of strategic execution: the moment when vision ignites into action. Just as a rocket blends precision engineering with explosive energy, this visual metaphor captures how our creative process turns big ideas into lift-off. It’s about momentum, direction, and the calculated creativity that propels every Digital Brew project forward.

The Creative Process: From Script to Screen

Every great video starts with the right words.

Before storyboards or style frames, our creative team sat down to rethink how we talk about what we do, and more importantly, why it matters to our clients. We knew the updated explainer video needed to speak directly to marketers who live and breathe results.

The brainstorming process centered around one key question: What’s the fastest way to prove that creativity and strategy can drive measurable outcomes? After several rounds of scripting and refining, we landed on a concise, high-impact message:

“In B2B, every second counts. And the right video? It can move markets, align teams, and close million-dollar deals.”

From there, the script built momentum showcasing what sets Digital Brew apart: award-winning creative, strategic execution, and a proven record of helping brands that don’t have time to waste.

From there here’s how it unfolded:

  • Storyboarding: Visual language, color theory, and motion cues were mapped.
  • Animation: We combined 2D and 3D techniques to give the story both warmth and depth.
  • Sound design: A cinematic score tied every emotional beat together.

Early on, I wanted to set a tone that felt polished but not overly corporate. Since we often work with stock video, I looked for ways to incorporate it creatively—adding moments of quirk and character so it wouldn’t feel stiff or generic. I also wanted to mix in some handmade elements to bring warmth and craft. I have a love for traditional frame-by-frame animation, so I worked in small touches of that—like the looping flame in the logo. I even explored Blender to create a few 3D shapes for more dynamic movement and used some AI-generated imagery in places where stock just wasn’t cutting it. It became a real mix of tools and textures that made the piece feel fresh.

The result is a seamless flow that mirrors how we approach client work: collaborative, thoughtful, and designed for clarity.

Style and Animation Choices

The design style of our new explainer video blends hand-crafted illustration with clean motion design. We wanted the visuals to feel approachable yet sophisticated, a balance of creative artistry and strategic storytelling.

We leaned into our updated brand palette: neutrals contrasted with bold colors. Our animation team showcased some of our best work in 2D, 3D, mixed media and live-action.

Below, some examples of the client videos showcased in our explainer.

Why Explainer Videos Work?

Even as content formats evolve, explainer videos remain one of the most effective marketing tools in a brand’s toolkit. They simplify decision-making, increase retention, and build trust faster than static content.

Here are a few stats that back it up:

  1. 96% of people have watched an explainer video to learn more about a product or service. (HubSpot, 2024)
  2. Viewers retain 95% of a message when they watch it in a video compared to 10% when reading it in text. (Forbes, 2023)
  3. Including a video on a landing page can increase conversions by up to 86%. (HubSpot, 2024)
  4. The average user spends 88% more time on websites with video. (Forbes, 2023)

In other words, the data doesn’t just support using video…it demands it.

Key Takeaways for Marketers

Our new explainer video is more than a creative milestone. It’s a case study in the power of visual storytelling.

If you’re a marketer planning your next campaign, here’s what you can learn from our process:

  1. Start with purpose. Every visual decision should tie back to your core message.
  2. Tell, then show. Use narrative to set context before diving into data or features.
  3. Marry design and strategy. Animation should support communication, not distract from it.
  4. Invest in emotion. People act on what they feel, not just what they understand.
  5. Measure and iterate. Use engagement metrics to refine your future campaigns.

Have fun and try new things. There are countless ways to tell a story visually, and it’s worth experimenting to find what works. But above all, keep clarity at the top of your priority list. Abstract ideas and cool graphics only land when the audience can quickly understand what they’re seeing. The best creative work finds that balance between clarity, craft, and curiosity.

Our new explainer video isn’t just about us. It’s about what happens when strategy meets creativity, when storytelling turns ideas into impact.

We hope it inspires marketers everywhere to rethink how they explain what they do, and how they make their audiences feel.
